Path is a founder-led advisory practice for private funds and alternative investment managers. Path is designed to support client teams and service providers on defined technical accounting, financial reporting, administrator oversight and transition priorities, with direct involvement from Faisal. Drawing on more than two decades of experience across public accounting and alternative asset management, Faisal brings practical, senior involvement to each agreed engagement.
As Head of Accounting & Financial Reporting at King Street Capital Management, Faisal oversaw and was directly involved in the financial statement preparation process with fund administrators and fund accountants, reviewed U.S. GAAP and IFRS financial statements, and led annual audit coordination. He also oversaw administrator deliverables, NAV and reconciliation review, waterfalls and carried interest, valuation-related matters, fund launches and complex cross-border structures.
Within a global SEC-registered investment adviser, his reporting responsibilities covered private and structured credit, hedge funds, private equity, real estate funds and CLOs. He managed preparation and review of reporting to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), European regulators under AIFMD, the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) and the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (BVI FSC).
His systems and transformation experience includes finance systems onboarding and configuration, chart-of-accounts design, workflow mapping and integration with fund accounting and operations processes, as well as systems implementation review. This experience informs Path’s systems requirements, implementation and testing oversight.
Over approximately 16 years at KPMG across New York, the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands, including senior manager roles in financial-services assurance, Faisal led investment fund audits and advised on complex accounting and transaction matters. His work included U.S. GAAP and IFRS financial statement and disclosure review, SEC 10-K and 10-Q reporting, technical position papers, consolidations and intercompany eliminations, and accounting for derivatives, revenue recognition, credit losses and liability-versus-equity classification.
He reviewed Level 3 investment and real estate valuations, methodologies and market inputs, fair value hierarchy disclosures, NAV, fees and waterfall calculations. His SOX 404 / ICFR work covered control design, narratives and risk and control matrices, walkthroughs, deficiency assessment, remediation and retesting. He also presented audit plans, significant risks and control deficiencies to Audit Committees and coordinated multidisciplinary teams through reporting deadlines.
His prior assurance experience spans public and private financial-services clients, including asset managers and U.S. and offshore investment funds across private equity, credit, real estate, hedge and long-short strategies, mutual funds, venture capital, co-investment vehicles and funds of funds. At KPMG, he worked extensively with PCAOB and AICPA auditing standards and International Standards on Auditing (ISA), alongside U.S. GAAP, IFRS and investment company accounting guidance under ASC 946. This background informs Path’s technical accounting, reporting readiness and financial oversight capabilities.
