Services & fit
Who does Path work with?
Path is designed to support private funds and alternative investment managers, including private credit, private equity and hedge fund managers. Fund-focused family offices and selected related organizations can also engage Path where the work fits its expertise.
What kinds of challenges can Path help address?
Complex accounting conclusions, financial reporting issues, administrator oversight and transitions, fee and allocation reviews, valuation governance, controls and defined senior finance leadership needs. Explore the eight service lines.
Do we need an administrator or an internal finance team?
Path’s model is particularly suited to organizations with established administrators and basic finance infrastructure that need additional senior expertise. New funds can engage Path for focused launch and readiness support alongside appointed service providers.
Can we engage Path for one issue?
Yes. A focused accounting question, reporting challenge or transition can be structured as a project. Recurring support can be considered separately.
Working together
Do you work alongside our administrator and auditors?
Yes. Path can provide senior oversight and coordination alongside your finance team, administrator, auditors and other advisers, with clear ownership of each deliverable.
Who will work on our engagement?
Path is a founder-led practice. Syed Faisal Anwar provides the senior involvement agreed for the engagement and works directly with your team and service providers. Engagements are accepted according to available capacity; the time commitment, availability and responsibilities are agreed before work begins.
What engagement options are available?
Defined projects, recurring advisory oversight and selected interim or fractional fund finance leadership. The scope sets out responsibilities, deliverables, timing and the level of involvement.
How is the scope agreed?
An initial discussion identifies the priority, relevant entities, deadlines and support already in place. Where the work is not yet clear, a diagnostic can help define it. Responsibilities, deliverables, assumptions and the treatment of additional work are agreed in writing.
How are fees determined?
Path offers defined project fees, recurring advisory retainers and selected interim leadership engagements. Fees reflect complexity, timing, responsibilities and senior involvement. The scope and treatment of additional work are agreed before an engagement begins.
Specialist responsibilities
How do director appointments work?
Selected board and independent director appointments are considered separately from finance leadership engagements, with their own responsibilities and terms. Any proposed combination of director, finance leadership and valuation oversight roles is assessed for conflicts, decision authority and applicable independence requirements before acceptance. Roles that cannot be appropriately separated are not combined.
Does Path provide audit or investment-selection services?
No. Path provides finance and business advisory support to management, rather than audits or independent assurance. Its services do not include investment selection, securities recommendations or portfolio management. See the service boundaries.
What does valuation governance support involve?
Review and challenge of valuation processes, accounting, methodologies, inputs, documentation and controls. The mandate can include committee governance and service-provider oversight; it does not include an independent valuation opinion.
Does systems support include implementation?
Path can support requirements definition, implementation oversight, migration reconciliation review and testing oversight, including practical reporting automation and AI enablement. System configuration, software development, deployment and ongoing technical support remain with the client or its appointed implementation provider unless specific additional responsibilities are expressly agreed. Data access, controls, human review and any post-launch checks are defined in the engagement scope.
Getting started
What should I include in an initial inquiry?
Your organization or fund type, the challenge, the support needed and your timing. If helpful, include the number of funds or entities and the service providers already involved. Please avoid sending financial statements, account numbers or confidential documents in an initial email.
Does contacting Path establish an engagement?
No. Services begin under an agreed written scope of engagement. A suitable method for sharing confidential information can be agreed separately.
